What Do Sliding Shower Doors Cost in San Diego?

Sliding and bypass doors in San Diego run $650 to $3,100 depending on how much frame you are willing to see. The cheapest option is framed. The cleanest is frameless bypass with a top rail. The price gap between them is real and it buys appearance, not durability.

Sliding Door Prices by Style

StyleTypical Installed PriceWhat You Get
Framed bypass, standard 60 inch$650 - $1,200Aluminum frame around each panel, bottom track. Most forgiving of an out-of-level curb.
Semi-frameless bypass$1,100 - $1,900Framed glass with a header rail and no bottom track, or a thin perimeter with exposed rollers.
Frameless bypass with top rail$1,700 - $3,1003/8 inch glass, full-length top rail anchored to studs, floor guide instead of a track.
Roller and track rebuild on existing door$140 - $320Keeps the glass you already have. Only makes sense if the rail is not pitted through.
Bottom rail replacement$220 - $480Needed when the original rail has corroded. New rollers will not save a pitted rail.
Semi-frameless with low-iron glass$1,600 - $2,500Removes the green tint. Worth it on a bright bathroom.

Low-iron glass+$200 to +$450Cosmetic, but obvious on a bright wall.
Matte black or brass rail+$120 to +$380Stock finishes are chrome and brushed nickel.
Curb leveling+$180 to +$500A bypass door on a sloped curb leaks at the meeting stile no matter what the seal does.

What a Slider Quote Should Cover

Why Sliders Rattle and Leak

Plastic rollers

They flat-spot and then the panel jumps the track. Ball-bearing rollers cost a few dollars more and are the difference between a quiet door and a rattling one.

A rail into drywall

Builder doors often have the top rail in drywall with plastic anchors. The rail sags, the panels misalign, and the seal stops touching. The fix is blocking, not a bigger anchor.

An unlevel curb

A bypass door relies on the meeting stile to seal. If the curb runs downhill, water tracks along it and exits at the stile no matter how new the sweep is.

A missing bottom sweep

Cheap doors ship without one. It is the part that stops the puddle.

Lead Time

Stock framed sliders can often be installed within a week. Semi-frameless and frameless bypass are cut to the opening and run 7 to 12 business days. Install is typically 2 to 4 hours.

Pricing Questions

Can I replace just the rollers in my old slider?

If the bottom rail is sound, yes, and it is the cheapest fix there is. If the rail is pitted or the header rail is loose in drywall, new rollers will not solve it.

Are frameless bypass doors worth it?

They look dramatically better and they remove the bottom track, which is where most of the dirt and leak complaints come from. They cost roughly double a framed door.

Why does water come out at the middle of my slider?

The meeting stile seal has failed, or the curb is out of level so water runs along it. Both are fixable, and both are cheaper than a new door.

Can a slider go where a swing door will not fit?

That is exactly what they are for. If a swinging door hits the vanity, the toilet, or the person at the sink, a bypass door is the right answer.
